I would give zero stars if I could. I ordered crab rangoons and General Gau's chicken. The crab rangoons were a 2/10. They were well fried but the filling was very salty and thick. The chicken was disgusting..0/10...I ate one piece and spit it out. I tried a few more pieces to see if it was just a bad bite.....nope. I had to throw the rest out. It has an absolutely awful texture and lots of skin on every piece. There was NOTHING enjoyable about this. The sauce is extremely viscous and basic. There are far more better options than to order from this restuarant.
I am gonna start with something about other people reviews depict the info, most of the people says this restaurant waitress asking for more tip. 🤑🤑🤑This is exactly we noticed, food wasn't good and I noticed one more thing, "I went there with my girlfriend at morning 11 am. We just want to try new food and those people were presistly approaching us to order more food."At the end they were asking us to give tip 15 to 20%. Which is ridiculous. I personally thing tip depends on service, food quality and upto customers. This restaurant is 👎👎👎👎
Service a bit weird, you have to request lunch menu. Spicy beef and spicy fish fillet dishes were good. Portion sizes aren't big.
Awesome!! I was a little concerned with a lot of common 'American' Chinese dishes. Until I tried one. I have has wonton soup a hundred times before. But I have never really had it until here. Decent pricing delicious food.
Really great food and great service. It is my family's favorite place to eat when we are in China Town.
Totally drove there to find out they were closed 😣
I love here. I have only been in boston twice, and I visited here twice for the famours lobster, the best in China town in Boston. The Sichuan food in this restaurant is not that spicy which is so good for me. And you probably can order a lobster over 7 pounds if you are lucky! :)
Great food, good location.
Smoked Duck was dried out. No vegetables, rice costs extra. Good tea.
Good food. Friendly Staff.
The taste of each dish are every similar like the use only one kid of sauce for all dishes
Food is always good and service great. Don't go early on really cold days. It takes a little bit for the dinning room to heat up. 7/7/19 - so sad to see this place has closed :(
Not really good food, i sincerely think i cook better on many dishes i have tried. It is usually my go to place when I'm hungry and other places nearby have waiting line. Cuz it is usually empty here.
My favorite go to place for sczchuan!
Truly delicious food and kind staff we've been going to it for years always a wonderful experience!
Hot Sour Soup was fair. Ordered shrimp, vegetables, pan fried noodles. Noodles were excellent, vegetable selection was boring American (carrots, broccoli, onion) shrimp were tiny (1/2") pale white, mushy, and tasteless. Place was clean; service was good; but I came for Chinese food.
Decent food, though not improved over years
Kind of empty on a Monday night, but food was good. Recommend the shu-mai
DUMPLINGS ARE STEAMY, TASTY AND SUCCULENT. NOODLE SOUP ENTREES ARE HEARTY AND BROTH IS NOT HEAVY. SERVICE IS PROFESSIONAL. VERY COMFORTABLE AND FAMILY ORIENTED.
Love the eggplant. Lively place. Service is uneven
Great food ! I have been here many times Amazing spicy foods! Szechuan Dan Dan Noodles . Cheng Du Spicy chicken.Home made Scallion Pancakes and Soup Dumpling Also the best Lobster in Chinatown.Hight Quality Food and Good Service. The Boss and waiter very nice!👍👍👍
Over the phone order takes forever.
Just walking through Chinatown and picked this place. It was DELICIOUS!!! Best Szechuan noodles ever!!! You must try them.
Not bad. But there exist many better choices in Boston Chinatown.
Food is very good and the restaurant is nice and clean. The staff here is very friendly.
Seafood dishes were so delicious, fresh and tasty. Salt and pepper lobster, veggies with big size shrimps, and fish was nicely presented. Price is reasonable, staff are friendly.
Glad the flavor didn't get changed, however, this may make the food less appealing to Americans. The name of the restaurant is New Shanghai, but half of the dishes are Sichuan flavor and the other half are not so spicy (just like its original name: 京川). The waiters served us better than we expected, may be they deserve 15% tip.
just finished my dinner here..huh that was awesome! food is great here, i had crab rankoons as apetizer and shrimp noodles, they also give u tea and sweet snack when theh seat u, totally recommend this place! 👌🖒 too bad im in Boston for only two days otherwise i would definitely stop by again.
Love this place awesome food and super nice staff.
Chengdu spicy chicken lunch special is one of my favorite dishes in Chinatown
So we paid the bill with like 12% tip or something? Then waitress who didn't serve us came back to us with the bill we paid saying sorry you HAVE to tip the waiters 15% above. I mean, the food there is low quality Chinese food with MSG. It's really not worth the money. Overpriced salty MSGed food.
My friends and I love the place. Amazing food and good pricing. Never understood why they don't have more business.
Ordered chicken fried rice and the meat was chewy different texture Than what chicken actually taste. Service was lousy and the retard waiter had a staring problem. Stay away from this dump!!!
Chow foon was awesome! Staff was friendly. Also they had green tea hot and ready at the table when we sat down which earned them the 5 stars.
The food was overpriced, full of salt and msg. Don't be fooled by the other 5 star reviews. I tipped 15 percent and the waitress ran after me saying 18% is needed for large groups. My group had 4 ppl. So many cheaper alternatives in the area.
Quite tastey, I don't know what else to say
Pretty good food! One of the most authentic non Cantonese restaurants in Boston. Its called new Shanghai but they have a lot of good Sichuan dishes. YUM!
Obviously they didn't treat us the same way as they did to other "reviewers" who left 5 stars. For me, that was one of the worst experience. Vegetable was too salty with a lot of MSG. The pork lacked of taste. The worst is the fish which they claimed to be special and charged me $27. It is not on the menu but recommended by the waiter (maybe the boss). I wish I had taken a picture of the fish which could show how small it is. Every time we asked for rice, we had to ask three times before we got it. To make the experience worse, they sent the bill with 18% tip already included (how considerate!).I will NEVER go to this place again.
Lot of fun
Cost 38 bucks for so little food and it was bad!!! Kung pao chicken was loaded with ginger and lo mein has no flavor. What a waste.
From the first step in we found flaws in this restaurant. We asked for a basic modification of a dish to not include a certain vegetable and they would not comply. The basic Wonton soup was basically bland water with shreds of cabbage. Cold sesame noodles were noodles drenched in hot sauce. Regular chicken dish for $13 was barely a single portion of food. Worst was the service that minimally offended us. They were bringing small chips to the tables all around us and when we asked, they acted clueless if they didn't have any. We had a different ethnicity than those tables and felt they fully took advantage of us for $.
great place for Dan Dan noodles
Food is good but service is very slow. The last dish came in after we finished other dishes and I asked the waiters 3 times. A waiter directly told me that he won't check because they're very busy. The waiter didn't bother to mention that tips was already included in the check so I paid them 40% tips in total. What a rip off!
Food is not bad, typical Chinese food
Great food very reasonable and lots of food.
Absolute msg garbage.
It was very nice and quiet as I came before dinner the house lo mein was a very small order very little chicken pork and 2 many shrimp
I asked for a vegetarian soup i was given a full meat meal and then before we placed are ordered we were not allowed to leave and food was poor and cold i do not suggest coming here
Best Chinese food I've had since moving to New England 13 years ago.
